My Moby Dick

Directed by David Schweizer

What ever happened to Moby Dick? He’s beached in Santa Monica at The Broad Stage for a multimedia voyage into the contemporary truth of Herman Melville’s epic tale. Steered by award-winning director David Schweizer, this one-time-only event takes a uniquely Southern California look at the literary masterpiece, featuring an unpredictable variety show of theatrical performance, quotes, misquotes, and cutting-edge science. The evening culminates a month-long citywide initiative of the Los Angeles Public Library to pursue the great white whale.
Along for the ride will be: the great stage and film actor Stacy Keach (Nebraska, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For) as Captain Ahab; actor and preeminent Samuel Beckett interpreter Alan Mandell; Academy Award-nominated actress Shohreh Aghdashloo (House of Sand and Fog, John Stewart’s forthcoming Rosewater), and many more!

Watch musician and Melville descendant Moby discuss his familial connection to the great white whale here.
