Troubadours
A celebration of Los Angeles art with over 30 concurrent exhibitions throughout Southern California beginning fall 2011. The Broad will present two screenings of the documentary Troubadours followed by a live performance and conversation led by director Morgan Neville. Troubadours traces Carole King, James Taylor, and the singer/songwriter scene in Los Angeles during the late 1960's and early 1970's. The film also interweaves the intriguing story of the world famous Troubadour club that cemented their musical legacy. Morgan Neville is an award-winning documentary filmmaker who specializes in cultural subjects. Through a series on films on important musical topics (including The Brill Building, Sun Records, Nat King Cole, Brian Wilson, Leiber & Stoller, James Brown, and Burt Bacharach), Neville has sought to document the stories of songwriters and producers who helped shape 20th century music.
Ticket holders are invited to a pre-reception at The Edye plaza featuring Singer/Songwriter Amy Kuney. The reception begins at 6:00. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served. Join us after the show for a special Q&A with the filmmaker, Morgan Neville.
