Antonio Lysy - Music from Argentina

It was The Broad Stage where this cellist extraordinaire recorded the album Antonio Lysy at The Broad: Music from Argentina, including the song that won the 2010 Latin Grammy for Best Classical Contemporary Composition. Composed especially for Lysy by renowned Argentina-born film composer Lalo Schifrin, Pampas evokes the titular landscape and its people in a stirring spectacle of music, dance and multi-media projections.  Joining Lysy in this special performance is LA's premier Capitol Ensemble, pianist Bryan Pezzone, and featuring tango superstars Miriam Larici and Leonardo Barrionuevo.  Steeped in the musical heritage of the composer’s and musician’s childhoods, you won’t want to miss out again on this passionate and poetic concert experience.

This performance is sold out--but please join us for a free master class with the artists on Monday, April 24, at 4pm!

Tango stars Miriam Larici and Leonardo Barrionuevo will guide talented local and SMC dance students to new performance heights in front of a full audience of learners of all ages! Accompanied by Grammy Award winning cellist Antonio Lysy and the Capitol Ensemble, dancers, under the tutelage of the masters, they will explore the unique collaboration between artist, choreographer, and musician.
